The Racing Game to Own This Year?
There was a steady stream of racing games this summer including the
highly anticipated Forza Motorsport 2 and the gorgeous Colin McRae DIRT
title released by Codemasters. But Forza 2 lacked in the graphics
department but boasted 60 frames per second while DIRT had everything
but left out the all-important online multiplayer. While both games
were good, they both lacked some very important features.
And that?s why Project Gotham Racing 4 will deliver the high quality
content AND graphics we?ve been waiting for in a racing game. The game
has been in development since the release of Project Gotham Racing 3,
so the team at Bizarre Creations (the development studio behind the hit
racer) have had plenty of time to polish the game and add some
incredible new features from the ground up.
Best Racing Game this Year?
Everyone knows by now that Project Gotham Racing 4 is going to include
motorcycles in it. To be specific, at least 30 bikes will make it into
the game bringing the total number of vehicles to around 130. When we
heard the news here at WebQuad, we were very excited. To take such a
dramatic step is very revealing of how much thought Bizarre is putting
into their sequel. While kudos are still in play here, you?ll have to
pull off some awesome stunts on the bike including wheelies, endos,
drift, stopies, and catch air just to name a few.
This will add a whole new element to the races ? you?ll have to plan
your stunts, avoid the bikes (or cars) that are racing around you, and
give yourself plenty of time to end the trick before preparing for the
next turn. It promises to be very exhilarating and rewarding at the
same time.
Caution: Slippery When Wet
Not only this, but PGR4 includes a complete weather system in it ?
something racing fans have been screaming for, for years now. And
finally Bizarre delivers the goods. But what?s even more special about
this weather system is that it is complete dynamic. Weather is
unpredictable in real life and so it is in PGR4. While clear skies may
be present at the beginning of the race, it may be raining by the end.
This will force players to change of their strategy and perhaps be more
careful the next lap around.
New Cities Mean More Fun
While the old cities of PGR3 are in the game (and have been updated to
include circuit races only), the new cities in PGR4 are a refreshing
welcome. You?ll get the chance to race throughout Quebec, St.
Petersburg, Shanghai, Macau, and the Michelin Test Track. And if
you?ve played PGR3 (which I?m sure you have) you know how massive these
cities can be. The replayability factor in this game is at an all time
high ? keep in mind you?ll be able to race these cities in the dry,
wet, and fog. With so many variations, we?re guessing that PGR fans
will be glued to their couches?forever.
The Outlook this Year
With the main competition behind them, Bizarre Creations is sure to
make a smash hit this fall. With MotoGP also arriving this fall, you
can be safe to say that Bizarre will be the one racing game everyone
wants?I mean, for goodness sakes, the game includes MOTORCYCLES. What
more could you ask for? We?ll have more coverage in the next coming
days as we discuss more about PGR4.
